About Me
My name is Francesca Cabrol, I am a highly motivated individual with experience in communications, social media, and multimedia design, along with creating and managing content. I possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working as a Communications Assistant with the Assembly of First Nations (AFN). I also received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Ottawa and a Graduate Certificate from the Interactive Media Management (IMM) Program at Algonquin College. Both programs taught me the skills and tools needed to work in the world of communications, along with the knowledge I've gained working with the AFN. My goal is to further my career in communications by using the skills, tools, and experience I have gained along the way.
Outside of Communications and Media Design, I have some experience in event planning. Growing up, I did a lot of volunteer work for local events and festivals and worked with a catering company that provided event decor along with their catering services. I have helped with weddings, galas, birthday parties, and festivals. In high school, I had the chance to work with the Canadian Tulip Festival as a co-op student, where I created multiple promotional posts for the Festival on various social media platforms and supported the event organizers on the days of the festival. Some of the things I’ve learned while working in event planning correlate greatly with Communications and Media Design, and I try to implement this into my work.
My Hobbies and Interests
A lot of my hobbies are related to my interest in art, preferably musical and visual arts. Growing up, I picked up drawing after I started watching anime, I would find images online from the shows I watched and draw them on paper. I do not draw as much as I used to, but it is still something I enjoy. Sometimes, instead of drawing, I will look at different art accounts on social media and find enjoyment in looking at other people’s artwork. I also enjoy listening to music while I'm drawing or working on something. Sometimes when I'm bored, I’ll listen to music to keep me company. I listen to many types of music, with my preferred genres being Hip Hop and R&B. Sometimes my music taste will differ depending on my mood. One moment I'm listening to Kendrick Lamar, the next thing you know, I move onto Pentatonix until I end up listening to Asian Kung-Fu Generation. If the song is catchy and has a good beat/rhythm, I will end up listening to it.
Another hobby I have an interest in is video games. I have been playing them since I was about 5 years old. I grew up around my older cousins who often played video games, and eventually, they let me play with them. The first game I played was a fighting game called "Tekken 5." Since then, video games have been a big interest of mine. My favourite types of games are fighting and RPGs. As mentioned before, fighting games were my introduction to video games, they’re fun to play, especially when you fight against your friends. As for RPGs, I enjoy the stories within the games, it’s almost like watching a movie while you complete quests that take you further into the plot. A lot of these games also have amazing music so, sometimes I’ll listen to the soundtracks outside of playing the games. My favourite video game soundtrack is from Final Fantasy XV, which is also my favourite video game.
